On June 11–12, 2026, Astana (Hilton Astana) hosted the 16th international mining and metallurgy congress and exhibition Astana Mining & Metallurgy (AMM 2026) — the key event of the year for leaders of the mining and metallurgical industry.
This year's congress motto was “From the depths of the earth to the heights of intelligence.” The event brought together key subsoil users, global equipment manufacturers, investors, and experts to discuss the industry's global transformation.
Of the planet's 34 most critical raw materials, 18 are mined and found in Kazakhstan's subsoil.

- About 2,100 delegates from 16 countries and 69 exhibiting companies from 15 nations.
- The exhibition featured national pavilions and delegations from the United States, Canada, Germany, Sweden, Saudi Arabia, France, Finland, China, and CIS countries.
- Participants and partners included the largest mining and metallurgical majors: Qarmet, ERG, Kazzinc, Kazakhmys, KAZ Minerals, and many others.
One of the headline topics of AMM 2026 was the development and processing of critical minerals and rare metals. Of the 34 most critical raw materials the global industry needs for the energy transition and high tech, 18 types are mined and found in Kazakhstan's subsoil.
The congress sessions also actively discussed:
- Adoption of artificial intelligence and the Mining 4.0 concept.
- The shift to high value-added products.
- Environmental standards (ESG), industrial safety, and green metallurgy.
