06 — FAQ

Frequently asked questions about liquid filtration

Answered by Asiafilter Inc. process engineers. If your question is not here, send us the composition of your medium and your line parameters and we will review them individually.

What filtration ratings are available?

Liquid bag filters are produced in the full standard micron range — from 1 to 1000 µm (1, 5, 10, 25, 50, 75, 100, 150, 200, 250, 400, 600, 800, 1000), with custom ratings available to order.

Cartridge elements cover the finer range: string wound and depth filters — 1–100 µm, pleated — 0.1–10 µm. The deepest stage is reverse osmosis membranes, 0.0001–0.2 µm.

Which liquid bag filter material should I choose?

Polyester (PE), up to +135 °C — the universal choice: high dirt-holding capacity and stable throughput at moderate hydraulic resistance.

Polypropylene (PP), up to +95 °C — for corrosive media: resistant to acids, alkalis and organic solvents. Nylon (PA), up to +150 °C — a mesh structure with a fixed aperture that washes easily and can be reused.

What are the housings made of and how are they connected?

Stainless steel AISI 304 gives baseline corrosion resistance, AISI 316L higher resistance for corrosive media. Welding is automated, with no dead zones where contaminants could accumulate.

Connections are flanged or threaded, for integration into any pipeline network. The reinforced lid has a quick-release mechanism: elements are changed without dismantling the pipework.

Will one housing take both bags and cartridges?

Yes, Asiafilter housings accept both liquid bag filters and precision cartridges — so you can change the filtration stage without replacing the housing itself.

How do I know when an element needs replacing?

By the pressure drop across the filter: a rising differential means the element has used up its dirt-holding capacity. Housings have built-in gauge ports precisely for monitoring the differential and replacing consumables in time.

Do you have solutions for drinking water treatment?

Yes. Activated carbon cartridges remove free chlorine, organics and off-odors — this is the final polishing stage and at the same time protection for reverse osmosis membranes.

TFC membrane elements retain up to 99% of dissolved salts, organics, bacteria and viruses. This combination is used in drinking water supply, beverage production, pharmaceuticals and steam boiler feedwater.

What should be installed for corrosive chemicals and hot media?

All-metal filters made of AISI 316L — where polymers cannot cope: extreme temperatures, aggressive liquids, and the need for repeated cleaning by washing, back-blowing or ultrasound.

For aggressive solutions we also use PP and PTFE rated across pH 0–14. Woven metal mesh cartridges allow back-flushing and reuse.
